Somewhere towards the end of twenty-five, after the realization that I had already lived a quarter of a century, I decided to start a lifelong project. The purpose of the project is to document my aging process and at the same time, encourage (or force) myself to become more comfortable in front of a camera.

The theme: Each year, I choose a theme, or a direction for the project. This year, I was inspired by Pantone’s 2016 Color(s) of the Year: Rose Quartz and Serenity, because together they represent unconditional love, connection, order and peace. While I am so happy to be where I am in my life, the second half of twenty-six brought about a lot of changes and uncertainty, so the theme of love, connection, order and peace really fit the bill for twenty-seven.

The locations: Jersey has completely captured my heart, so I was thrilled to shoot this year's project on the island. For Serenity, we went to my very favorite spot - a little, secluded bay just below Mont Orgueil castle. The weather was just perfect! Which was convenient as I was fighting off a bad cold, and wearing just a short dress at 7am on a February morning (I am so good at being an adult, you guys). For Rose Quartz, we caught the sunset at L'Etacq, which is tucked away at the end of a 5 mile stretch of beautiful beach. There was some serious magic happening with the clouds and the sunset.

The dresses: I found the Serenity dress at a vintage shop in Portland, and immediately fell in love! As I was standing in line to purchase it, a woman tapped me on the shoulder, "Honey, someone is going to fall in love with you wearing that dress." Ever since, this dress has held a very special place in my heart. A few years later, my friend Annie found a full length, black version of my dress and bought it for me as a parting gift when I left for Jersey last September.

Finally, I have to extend a big thank you to Anna, for operating my camera, helping me dream up and bring to life the concept for this year's shoot, and for doing my hair and makeup. She is a creative genius, and I am so happy to have her as a friend.

Cheers to twenty-seven! It's going to be a good one.
